Location Recce
This week we decided that we would use our college grounds to produce our film. It is a perfect location according to our script, where we even talked to our media teacher who agreed that he would open one of the classrooms for us which would be perfect for our closing scene. Furthermore the fields surrounding the college are perfect for filming our last scenes, where we need desolate fields. We discussed and asked staff when would be the best times to in our location so we decided that after school ours were the best.

Treatment
A bloodcurdling accident
A girl walks into the school corridors in a white night gown on 13 Jan 2012. Soaked in blood with a rope tight around her neck making her extremely pale she walks these deadly halls as she did 10 years ago but this time she is back for revenge against those who had made her life so miserable that she couldn't take it any longer.
the scene then goes back to when the girl was a school girl in in Scottsdale Academy and how she was taunted and teased, which led to that fatal accident on the night of 13 Jan 2002.

Treatment
There was a guy who checked into a hotel for one night. the manager gave him his key (the old fashioned metal kind) and told him NOT to go into room 356.
the guy goes up to his room and Gets ready for bed. but that night he can't sleep so he wanders around the hotel. he comes to room 356 and says to himself "oh why did he tell me i can't go in?" so he looks through the peephole and sees the most beautiful girl, dancing mysteriously and magically. She is so beautiful he stays there the whole night, just watching her. The guy is SO entranced, he decides to stay another night.
The next night, he goes to look through the peephole of room 356 again. but all he can see is red. just red. no girl, no room, nothing. but he stays there the entire night HOPING that the girl will come and dance again.
The next morning he checks out of the hotel and asks the manager why he couldn't go into room 356. The manager tells him that his daughter died in that room and has haunted it ever since. Spooked, the guy asks how he knows the ghost is his daughter.
How does the manager know it's his daughter's ghost?
Because she has one red eye.

Genre
Horror films can be terrifying, dramatic, exciting and entertaining. Horror film genre has been dramatically tainted with violence, death, monsters, pools blood, and ghosts. some great examples are saw, hostel, salems lot etc. Both films followed the genre of horror films but while many aspects were different from each other, They also shared some similarities, such as tenstion. Plots written within the horror genre often involve the intrusion of an evil force, event, or personage, commonly of supernatural origin, into the everyday world. Themes or elements often prevalent in typical horror films include ghosts, torture, gore, werewolves, ancient curses, satanism, demons, vicious animals, vampires, cannibals, haunted houses, zombies and serial killers.
Horror films, generally have 5 main stock characters that make repeat appearnces in alot of horror movies.
the wanderer- The character that always leaves at the tensest moment to go for a pee, often killed first.
the popular girl- The girl whos everyones friend, shes pretty, bitchy and mean.
jock- Athletic, handsom and mean to other boys. often sees himself as the protector of the group.
the final girl- The main character in the film who is always left till last and often survives
the pervert- the man who peeps into the girls locker room then gets killed
The setting is where the film is set, for a horror film it is usually isolated and abandoned places or locations with a hidden past. this can create a sense of tension especially since most horror films are set at night.
Visual things that usually signify the genre, colours like black and red often do this on movie posters and use blue filters in the film in order to show that this is a horror film. the Mise en scene of any horror film mostly always uses props such as knives, axes, guns and of course blood. Axes are an iconic prop in horror films and a cliche example of horror mise en scene. two example of axes being used in horror film are through the movies 'the shining' and 'friday the 13th'.
in horror films the camera work is not naturalistic with high and low angle camera shots. Canted camera work is very common in this genre as it makes the movie disorientated. Point of view shots are important as they raise issued of audience identification. they use these to make us see through the monster's or victim's eyes. these are used to make us feel uneasy. extreme close ups of the victim enable the audience to feel the terror of the situation. extreme close ups are also used to exclue everything else from the picture and make the monster more suddenly and shockingly more terrifying. Sound is also important in horror films as it creates a lot of the atmosphere. Asynchronous sounds like screams and contra puntal make it feel more disturbing. if one watched a horror movie without sound it wouldn't even be as half as scary as it it is with the sound.

Evil dead 2 part 1
Genre is established through sound mise en scene as well as camera and editing. There are dramatic non diegetic sounds throughtout to tell the audience that this is a horror since it is the type of sound that builds tenstion and drama. The cliip starts with dark lights and a somewhat creepy slow voice to further enhance the fact that this is going to be a tenstion built dramatic horror. Even the setting of the cabin is dark isolated and desolate, somwhere where the audience would not want to be by themselves. The costume is just normal clothes for a man and woman to be wearing which futher creates the tension of whats to come, in that the costumes are so normal that whatever is to come is a massive shock to the audience. When the monster is coming towards the woman, the camera pivots up and down a lot so we can get the view from the monsters eyes which creates even more suspense, which is futher highlighted bt the close up of the woman when she is attacked. The characters are introduced in a normal driving situation not knowing whats to come which futher emphasizes the genre of tension horror. The narrative is clearly established through the the narrators voice telling the history of the book of the dead. constant mood of tension is created throughnon diegetic sound, especially the kissing scene which is so normal but it is made full of tension with this sound and lighting. the enigma is created at the beginning about the book and what evil it brings. At one point when the camera is coming towards the woman through the window it pivots up and down in such an unprofessional way one would not believe that it is a professional film, but this use of interesting type of camera use make the clip more realistic.
